CREATING A NEW GENERATION
OF LUXURY BRANDS AND REVIVING
CENTURIES OF CULTURE AND
CHINESE KNOW-HOW
MIKE KAGEE FOR WORLD FASHION TRENDS
For many years Beijing based fashion designer Guo Pei
drew an inspiration for her luxury fashion and couture
collections from her travel's overseas but recently she
decided to focus solely on China's culture.
The beautifully elegant an bubbly designer's move brought
her company into a small but growing and increasingly
influential group of luxury brands that are having success
by focusing on their countries centuries and heritage.
"After 2008 I realised how proud I was to be Chinese, in my
last collection is what I wanted to express as I wanted to
speak about my country , its culture, it's people said Guo
in organza white dress.....
THE GUO PEI COLLECTION 2012 draws inspiration
from China's imagery and folklore, red and gold dresses
covered with scales to mark the year of the dragon and
other clothes with handmade embroidered hems and
sleeves. China has in recent decades been known to the
world as the workshops of the world but Guo Pei is wisely
using her name and label as a marketing tool to create a
new generation of home-grown luxury-brands and to ditch
some of the western designs and Bordeaux wines.
