THE irony is to find a niche in the
market place and create your very
own MBA in fashion.Any successful
fashion designer or creative director
who wants to become a CEO of a fast
growing company will tell you that
to start out in the fashion world
is probably the most difficult. No
person can gaze into a crystal ball
and clearly predict his or her future.
You will find a need for recognition.
You need to be comfortable operating
in a dynamic environment with some
or a little experience and may not
have learned as yet about changing
winds.
A successful leader needs to be a
natural risk-taker who is comfortable
operating without much structure in
the beginning in an ever-changing
environment. They must be willing to
roll up their sleeves have multiple rolls
and hire people with valuable
experience both creative and practical
separating the creative team from the
accountant as mixing the two could
create a destructive environment.
Clashing of personalities in any work
environment is a bad thing.
Over communicate with your team of
creatives as you need to talk to them
constantly about all issues. This can
be done in the weekly company
meeting or one-on-one in your office
or over drinks at work.Emphasize
the positives and acknowledge the
the negatives.
Remember to tell people where they
can improve.Sometimes members
of your team feel anxious because
they know they are not doing
something right but do not know
how to ask for help.Get stuck in
there. Steer them away from a fall.
Have fun as the leader of the pack
as people are always watching
the leader.
