        Couture Collection may be a
        rosebud moment for Paris
        designer Christian Lacroix           
        As a fifteen year-old-boy as he
        recalls 'A rainy day when I was
        bored' he discovered a cache of
        bound fashion magazines from the
        1930's and 1940's in hid grand-
        parent's attic, and was spelbound
        by the whimsical creations of Elsa
        Schiaparelli.
        Since then he explains, 'I have
        always been in love with the 
        period from 1938-1958
        Schiaparelli closed her couture
        establishment in 1954.
        The Schiaparelli period was 
        spirited, luminous and full of
        Paris fantasy and it was all about
        the Italian creating Paris glamour.
