FASHION
IS A BUSINESS
AND A WAY OF LIFE
BY MIKE KAGEE
TO BE BORN INTO FASHION IS ONE
THING BUT TO MAINTAIN LONGEVITY
AND TO REMAIN ON TOP OF YOUR
GAME IS SOMETHING ELSE.........
WE all have a die-hard ambition to continue to do something
new and to create and re-create as we go along. Most people we know who are successful have a love for fashion itself. The ones
that survive have a knack to convert creativity into business.
Iconic designer Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton is a typical
example of a success story, he lives his dream and makes money
from it. It is hard to put your finger on the precise moment when Marc Jacobs will fall by the wayside, his ambition and
his celebration of fashion and the admiration that he has for
Miuccia Prada and also his love for Prada makes him less
complacent and always looking over his shoulder turning
to others for ideas. A good lesson of comparative shopping!
Fashion should not only become a youthful obsession but it
is important to have both fashion and a business sense and
to make every fashion collection work..........
MOST fashion geniuses have one thing in common, they love
what they do, they live and breath fashion, it is that intangible
quality flowing through their work which together with a great
deal of talent and effort and with a reasonable business sense
has distinguished them from the rest. They do not frown at
opportunities, a typical example who have shown at H&M
Karl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Lanvin and more.....
Always on the hunt for possible business opportunities and
always remaining on top of the fashion pile........
